The state of Alabama had a dismal performance in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
The state went a combined 1-3 in the first two rounds. Second-seeded Auburn beat in-state squad Jacksonville State and was hammered by Miami (Fla.) in the second round.
Alabama was clobbered by Notre Dame in the first round. Houston dispatched UAB in the first round.
We had high hopes entering the Field of 68, especially liking Auburn’s chances of seriously challenging top-seeded Kansas in the Elite Eight.
Instead, we’ll be watching the rest of the tournament without a state school in contention.
March Madness is now March sadness in Alabama.
