Kona Ice will park its truck in front of the Chamber of Commerce located at 912 Selma Ave. from noon-2 p.m. on Monday and offer free cups of shaved ice to community members.
The giveaway is part of the island-themed shaved ice company’s seventh annual National “Chill Out” Day, an initiative started by the company in a nationwide effort to ensure there’s “no taxation without relaxation this tax season,” according to a press release from the company.
The event represents one of many ways Kona Ice gives back to its local communities. The chain operates more than 1,400 mobile units in 49 states.
“National ‘Chill Out’ Day is one small, yet powerful, way the brand hopes to put a smile on people’s faces,” the release said. “Through partnerships with schools, youth sports leagues and other neighborhood organizations, Kona Ice has given back more than $100 million to the communities it serves.”
