Selma City Schools teacher announced as Finalist for Alabama Teacher of the Year

Selma City Schools teacher Denisha Streeter could land another award during the school year.
Streeter is one of 16 finalists for Alabama Teacher of the Year.
“Mrs. Streeter represents the best of the best!” SCS Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams said. “Team Selma is so fortunate to have such a creative, exemplary, compassionate champion for our scholars.
“On behalf of the Selma City Schools Board of Education we congratulate and celebrate her excellence.”
Streeter, the SCS Elementary Teacher of the Year, credits the school system for her success.
“God is so amazing,” Streeter. said. “This entire process has been so humbling. I am grateful for my leaders from childhood to now. Iron sharpens iron, and I am only one piece of the puzzle of excellence that Selma City Schools has to offer.
“It is a tremendous honor to represent Saints Virtual Academy, Selma City Schools, and the extraordinary educators of District 5 as a “Sweet 16 Finalist” for Alabama Teacher of the Year.”
The winner will be announced by the Alabama State Board of Education and Alabama State Department of Education in May.
