Two men were injured in a shooting Wednesday night in the 1400 block of Water Avenue in downtown Selma.
According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, “The two suspects who got shot in the shooting will survive.”
Video of shooting obtained by The Selma Times-Journal shows two people standing in Water Avenue involved in a verbal altercation. One of those subsequently shot in the melee appears to draw a gun and point at the other, who draws a gun of his own and begins shooting as he runs.
Jackson said the Selma Police Department is investigating the incident and has identified a person of interest in the shooting, but multiple attempts for comment from the Selma Police Department have been unsuccessful.
In prior reporting, Jackson incorrectly stated Selma Attorney Rose Sanders owns a lounge in the 1400 block of Water Ave, which the incident happened in front of. According to Dallas County tax records, Sanders does, however, own the building, which now houses Freebandz Lounge, which city tax records show is owned by Lewis Freeman.
