Morgan Academy shuts out Ezekiel Academy, 7-0

Morgan Academy’s baseball team secured a 7-0 win over Ezekiel Academy on Tuesday.
The Senators, ranked No. 7 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll among Alabama Independent School Association teams, used two pitchers in the shutout.
Andrew Thomas started on the mound and struck out five batters while walking one in two innings of play. Davis Vardaman went three innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four Knights.
Thomas, who went 3-for-3 at the plate, drove in the go-ahead run in the first inning with a single that brought home two. He combined with T.B. Clements to knock in three runs in the fourth frame.
Clements led the way on the base paths with two stolen bases. The Senators stole seven bases in total.
Morgan Academy will host the winner of the first-round Class AAA series between Valiant Cross Academy and Springwood on Thursday at 4 p.m.
