Edgewood Elementary School has found a way to get young women healthy mentally and physically.

Girls on the Run is a physical activity program for girls between grades three through five.

The 10 week program teaches life skills through interactive lessons and exercise. GOTR meets after school at Edgewood. The program is used in other parts of the state.

We applaud Edgewood Elementary Principal Margaret Jones for getting involved with this program to boost the morale of young girls in this era of Social Media, where rumors often get started and can damage someone’s reputation. Hurtful words are just as powerful as being struck by a weapon.

We hope GOTR will be a long-term success and other Dallas County schools sign up in the future.
