Selma man murdered over the weekend, suspect turns herself into Selma Police

A Selma man was murdered over the weekend and the suspect quickly turned themselves in to the Selma Police Department.
According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, the Selma Police Department found the body of Jeremy Lewis, an African-American man on Saturday at the 300 block of Trot Lane. Fulford said the body had a gunshot wound.“Our officers responded to the 300 block of Trot Lane in reference to a gunshot victim,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, they discovered a black male, Jeremy Lewis, with a single gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead by the coroner.”
Fulford said the suspect, JonShelia Thomas, turned herself into the SPD and was arrested for murder.
Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said Dallas County District Court Judge Vernetta Perkins set bond at $1 million on Monday at the arraignment. At press time, Thomas is in the Dallas County Jail.
This is the sixth murder in 2022 for Selma.
