A Brantley woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Dallas County on Monday morning.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Brenda G. Powell, 56, was fatally injured when the 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer she drove struck a tree that fell onto the roadway.

Powell was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 5:08 a.m. on U.S. 80 near the 99 mile marker, approximately 10 miles west of Selma, in Dallas County.

No further details are available as Troopers with ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
