A man from Selma suspected in a 2021 murder was captured by U.S. Marshals in Minnesota.
Javontae Mitchell, 18, is now awaiting extradition back to the state.
A grand jury indicted Mitchell for the murder of Taquon Darrell Fikes, 26, of Selma.
Fikes was killed on June 8, 2021 at the 1100 block of Philpot Avenue. Police found Fikes lying unresponsive — in the backyard of a house. Fikes attended Selma High School and Wallace Community College-Selma.
It is not yet known how long it will take for Mitchell to be extradited to Alabama.
