Morgan Academy duo make ASWA All-State Baseball team

Two Morgan Academy baseball players earned spots on the Alabama Sportswriters Association All-State baseball team.
Senior Andrew Thomas made the ASWA second team as an infielder. T.B. Clements, a junior, earned honorable mention honors as a designated hitter
Thomas played pitcher, first base and third base. On the mound, Thomas went 6-1, with 126 strikeouts and a 1.07 ERA. Thomas, the Selma Times-Journal baseball player of the year in 2021, also had 30 hits, batted.411 with 24 RBI, 34 runs scored and 31 stolen bases.
A Lawson State Community College baseball signee, Thomas is also a ASWA All-state football selection as punter in 2020 and 2021.
Clements, a junior shortstop, had 31 hits, batted 356, with 28 RBI, 38 runs scored and 40 stolen bases. He is the son of Senators head baseball coach Stephen Clements.
The Senators spent the season ranked in the Top 10 of the ASWA poll, losing to No. 1 Glenwood in the AISA State semifinals.
Senators coach Stephen Clements said he’s thrilled that both made the All-State team.
“I’m super proud for these two young men,” Clements said. “This is a testament to the hard work that they have put in,not this year not last year but the last 5-6 years. So happy for them that their hard work is paying off.
“Two wonderful young man that are leaders on and off of the field. Jesus has blessed them with some ability and they have worked to get all they can out of it.”
