Joseph Herrin Hagood, III died July 7, 2022 at the age of 54. He was born March 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Selma.

Joe graduated from John T. Morgan Academy in 1986; then Auburn University at Montgomery, where he was a Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity member. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the Jones School of Law; then returned to Selma, where he opened his law practice in 1996 and was appointed as Municipal Judge for Selma in 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joseph Herrin Hagood, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Judith Thomason Hagood; beloved children, Anne Kathryn Hagood, Caroline O’Dale Hagood and Joseph Herrin “Rin” Hagood, IV; sister, Elizabeth Hagood (Charles Warwick, Sr.) Alley; niece, Judith Ivy Alley and nephew, Charles Warwick Alley, Jr.

Joe was a life-long member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and loved his church community. He enjoyed being involved in his children’s sports and assisting in coaching them at Meadowview Christian School. Another past-time of his was fishing and kayaking. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Burton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. in the Warren Room at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
