One of the most memorable businessmen in the history of Selma will be laid to rest this weekend.
Funeral services for Earl “Butch” Travis will be held Saturday at, 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Travis, 66, died on July 29. He opened Lannie’s Bar-B-Q number two restaurant in 1992, where it became popular and earned honors across the state.
To countless residents across Selma and Dallas County, Travis was a kind-hearted and loving man loved by many.
Several residents in the area, including Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum and Selma City Council President Billy Young all praised Travis.
We talked to a few members of Travis’ family and they were touched by the lives he touched over the years.
