The Dallas County Commission unanimously approved the County’s budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
The Fiscal year begins on October 1 and ends September 30, 2023.
Dallas County Administrator Barbara Harrell presented the budget to the Commission: Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, Commissioners Jan Justice, Vivian Rogers, Curtis Williams and Connell Towns on Monday.
The grand total of Dallas County’s budget for the 2023 fiscal year is $33.5 million, a slight increase of $33 million from 2022.
Here’s the key breakdown of the budget: $15.2 million in the general fund, $9.6 million allocated for the engineering/road department and $8.7 million for other funds.
Every county employee will get a $2 per hour payraise and a $600 employee bonus in November. Part-timers will get $200.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department will get six new vehicles. The County Engineering Department will get five new dump trucks.
Harrell worked with the Commission on the budget. The Commission thanked Harrell for her hard work on the budget.
“It’s a balanced budget,” Nunn said. “The budget increased from last year, but it’s all for the best. We look out for our citizens and employees.”
