On Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, Doris Anita Moultrie Moss transitioned to the arms of Jesus. Doris was born May 24, 1930, the second of two children, to the late William Fischer Moultrie and the late Melba Cunningham Moultrie in Richmond.
In 1958, she married John O. Moss. Together, they reared five children. Doris was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, who epitomized selflessness. She was a lifelong member of Campbell Chapel AME Church in Minter.
A Spelman College graduate, and member of the Spelman Glee Club, Doris was gifted with a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing, dancing and playing the piano. After graduation, she began teaching, eventually ending her teaching career at Street Manual Training School.
Doris was preceded in death by her brother, William E. Moultrie. She is survived by her husband and their five children: Anthony (Delores) Moss; Angela Pearson; Jeanette Sabur; Celestelle (Jimmy) Fox; and Anita Moss; as well as six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services to celebrate Doris’s life will be held at a later date. Her family greatly appreciates your prayers. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Spelman College or Campbell Chapel AME, Minter
