Morgan Academy’s Student Government Association participated in a food drive with the Christian Outreach Alliance last Thursday to hand out food for the needy in Selma.
The SGA started the campaign three weeks ago asking those at the school to bring in canned goods for the drive.
Several boxes of food were brought in for the drive as people waited outside for it. The SGA sorted the food out and the employees of the Christian Outreach Alliance served many citizens with the food. The donations were given out for two hours.
Morgan SGA president John Beekman Youngblood has been a part of this drive for all four years he has been in high school.
As president, Youngblood says that this is something that brings joy to everyone involved.
“It is always gratifying and it brings joy to work here,” Youngblood said. “When you work here you know that what you are doing is making an impact on our community. You are helping out families in our communities.
“It is really something that brings me joy. Out of all the community service, this is probably one of the more fun things we do. We always have a good time doing stuff like this.”
