A Valley Grande man died from injuries in a single-vehicle crash that occurred a few minutes after Thanksgiving Day.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Rickey T. Smith, 26, was critically injured when the 2018 Ford Mustang he drove overturned and left the roadway.

Smith, who was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, got ejected and transported to an area hospital for treatment. Smith succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. The crash occurred on Friday around 1:40 a.m. Friday morning at Alabama 22 near the 3-mile marker,  two miles east of Safford.

No further details are available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
