George H. Taylor of Selma, Alabama passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma at the age of 83.
George was born in Selma on February 28, 1939 to the late Willis G. Taylor and the late Lucille Sanderson Taylor.
George dedicated 30 plus years of his life as an Alabama State Trooper and retired as a Sergeant.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Doris Taylor; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Laymond Wilson, and Sierra Marsh; stepdaughter, Tammy (Leith) Wilson; and stepson, Percy Marsh.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice Cork Taylor; son, Gregory Alan Taylor; sister, Carol Ann Skinner; and brother-in-law, Ray Skinner.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. from the Northside Baptist Church in Selma with Rev. Kenneth Blake officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church beginning at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in the New Live Oak Cemetery. Alabama State Troopers will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garnett Stancil, Trey Stancil, Jimmy Jenkins, and Jim McCullough.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gideons International.
Final care and arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to the professional staff of Selma Funeral Home.
