Longtime Selma resident, Ken Nichols, 70, of Hoover, AL, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, December 17, 2022.
Ken was born October 28, 1952 to W.D. “Cotton” Nichols and Helen Hicks Nichols. He was a 1972 graduate of Selma High School where he was a member of the marching band. On October 14, 1972 he married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Knight. They were together for over 50 years. He worked as a maintenance specialist for International Paper and retired in 2015 after forty three years of service. He was a member of the National Guard, a Deacon at Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church, and an honorary member of the Dallas County Sheriff’s department. He enjoyed family get togethers, Alabama football, travel, and watching his grandkids play ball. He enjoyed life to the fullest as indicated by his aliases. “Boss Hawg, Big Fun, and Kool-Aid” just to name a few.
Ken is preceded in death by his father, W.D. Nichols and his mother Helen Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Nichols, children, David (Suzie) Nichols of Huntersville, NC, Kristi Nichols Wyatt of Prattville, AL, Justin (Allison) Nichols of St. Simons, GA, his sister, Jerri (Randy) Sheehan of Dadeville, AL; grandchildren Mary Catherine Nichols, Caroline Nichols, Jackson Wyatt, Isabella Wyatt, Maddy Nichols; Walter Nichols, Henry Nichols, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for a Memorial Service will be finalized following the Holidays.
