Schools in Selma and Dallas County cancelled school Friday in the wake of a strong tornado that blew through the county Thursday causing widespread damage. Morgan Academy also announced it was closing Friday and cancelling all sporting events.

This will allow school officials and maintenance crews to assess all schools further to ensure that all buildings are safe upon our student’s return on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.”
Dallas County Schools also posted to their Facebook page on Thursday night with a similar message for its students and staff.
“Dallas County School System will be closed Friday, January 13th to assess storm damage and to allow our families and employees to begin recovering from storm damage.
Schools in the city and county will also be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
