Northside Baptist Church hosted its annual Law Enforcement and First Responders Appreciation Day on January 27.
Dallas County Sheriff Office, Selma Police Department, Selma Fire Department, volunteer fire fighters and first responders at a delectable spread of spaghetti, salad, hot dogs and assorted desserts.
Six heroes were honored at the event: Quinton Stephens (DCSO), Javonte Benjamin (SPD), Calvin Edwards (State Troopers), Chadwick Mitchell (SFD) Danni Simmers (EMS) and Walt Grayson (Volunteer Fire Department).
Northside Baptist Church member Kathy Smith, one of the event’s organizers, said the goal never changes: thanking the DCSO, SPD and first responders for keeping the community safe. “The men and women are heroes everyday, Smith said. “I’m so very proud to be part of this service.”
Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said it was a privilege for the DCSO and law enforcement to be appreciated by the community.
Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey, several members of the DCSO, Selma Police Department and other First Responders attended the event.
