According to the Dallas County EMA, Dallas County has a high risk for damaging winds up to 70 mph, potential tornadoes, and quarter-sized hail between noon Thursday and Midnight Friday.
Morgan Academy is closing schools at noon on Thursday. Dallas County Schools will be closed until, Tuesday, February 21.
SCS Superintendent Zickeyous Byrd sent a statement on Wednesday about the decision to close schools.
“Due to the potential of inclement weather that is forecasted for our area that includes: possible tornados, strong winds, and ¼ size hail between the hours of 12 noon and 8 pm, Selma City Schools will be placed on remote learning Thursday. We will resume a normal schedule on Friday,” Byrd said.
