Selma officially welcomed Queen City Women’s Health downtown on Friday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The clinic is located in the heart of the Queen City at 108 Broad Street. Store Owner Courtney Carter said when she saw the building, it was a no-brainer to grab. “When I saw the building, it was a God send,” Carter said. “God placed me right here in the heart of the city. That’s the reason why I called it the Queen City Women’s Health Clinic. That’s where the name came from. It’s right downtown in the heart of the city. So, I decided to name it Queen City Women’s Health.”
The Clinic offers a lot for the patients who walk through the doors. Some of the services the clinic offers include: New OB Patients, Annual Well- Women’s Exams (PAP), STD Testing, Birth Control/ Family Planning, and Gynecological Problem Visits. A weight loss will be available on Fridays only and a full lab available at the clinic.
“I thought that would be a convenience after being in healthcare for so long and realizing that patients are not compliant because of transportation issues or scheduling conflicts and if you are able to provide them with a service while they are here during their appointment without having to depend on them to go after the appointment or at a later date you get more compliance with a lab test and ultrasounds and things of that sort. So that’s why I decided to try to get an in-house lab so I can make it convenient for my patients as well as helping with them comply with them getting their labs done.”
The clinic is accepting new patients and does accept insurance. The clinic is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until noon. If you have any questions, call 334-526-2887.
