A Selma man and woman were murdered around the same time on Sunday near the Tipton area.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford identified the victims as Cameron Struggs and Lakin Smith on the 100 block of Cummings Circle.
Fulford described the incident with Struggs first.
“The Selma Police Department received a call in reference to shots being fired in the area 100 Cummings Circle,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, SPD,officers observed Mr. Cameron Struggs laying on the ground with gunshot wounds and unresponsive.”
In reference to Lakin’s shooting, Fulford said SPD noticed a car on the scene.
“While en-route to the scene officers observed a dark colored vehicle with its flashers on headed into town,” Fulford said. “Officers arrived at the Vaughn ER and was advised that Lakin Smith was brought in with a gunshot wound that she suffered while in the area of Cummings Circle.”
Fulford said that Struggs and Lakin were both pronounced dead at the scene by Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey.
