The mystery of what happened to the owner of a car found abandoned on the Edmund Pettus Bridge last month may have been solved with the recovery of a body in Wilcox County over the weekend. Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey said the person has not been identified because family members have not been notified, but there is evidence it is a person connected to the vehicle, which had a large amount of blood in it when found Feb. 21.
Dailey said that the Alabama Department of Forensics is currently examining the body to determine the cause of death. How the person got into the Alabama River, and whether there was any foul play involved also remains a mystery as officials continue to investigate the case.
