Selma City Council to hold loaded City Council meeting tonight

Business Items will highlight the Selma City Council meeting on Tuesday tonight at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Selma City Council President Billy Young’s Business items include:
-A TNA Heat donation to the basketball team coached by Letti Hasberry.
-Awarding the first student of month in Selma and Dallas County.
-Learning about the Land Bank authority.
-Future possibility of the city of Selma adopting a City Flag.
Selma City Councilman Clay Carmichael discussed Trails Day on April 22 that includes a bike ride
Selma City Councilwoman Jannie Thomas is seeking Legislation about city cameras purchased in 2009 from the Build America bond.
Thomas said that she wants City Treasurer Terri Barnes-Smith to look back at those record.
The three items from Attorney Major Madison’s report will be discussed by the city council and may get voted on: RFP for surveillance cameras, Back to School Holiday on July 23 and request by City Treasurer Terri Barnes-Smith for the public works building.
Mayor James Perkins Jr’s report is also on the agenda. Perkins did not appear at the City Council Work Session last Thursday.
Also on the agenda are two citizens’ concerns: LeMarkus Snow of Snow’s Cleaning Service will discuss public safety. Faya Toure will discuss unity issues and violence. Toure, the wife of former State Senator Hank Sanders, was scheduled to appear at the city council work session, but did not show.
