The Dallas County Commission purchased four ventilators for Vaughn Regional Medical Center.
Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn presented the ventilators to VRMC officials on Tuesday. Nunn said the ventilators were purchased through a Community Development Block Grant. The devices will help VRMC battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Dallas County approved this purchase,” Nunn said. “We were able to use the funds from a grant and get the ventilators. It’s all about saving lives. We want to be able to help the hospital any way we can.”
VRMC CEO David McCormick said he appreciates getting new equipment from the Dallas County Commission.
Yakeler Rush, Respiratory Director at VRMC, said the hospital is grateful for the donation from the Dallas County Commission, who approved the purchases at a previous meeting.
“Judge Nunn blessed us with these ventilators,” Rush said. “A lot of times we had to be put on a waiting list.”
The Dallas County Commission has spent the first quarter of the year donating life-saving equipment.
Earlier this year, the Dallas County Commission donated LUCAS devices — to each of the 13 Volunteer Fire Departments in Dallas County. Six six county facilities also received defibrillators.
All of the equipment costs $368,000.
