The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a promoting prison contraband case that occurred last week.
Central Alabama Crimestoppers is also assisting with the investigation and offering a cash reward.
A report by Dallas County investigators say a Dallas County Detention Facility Detainee was transported to a local hospital emergency room to receive treatment for a possible medical emergency on April 25.
At the ER, the detainee attempted to obtain prison contraband reportedly left for him by an unknown suspect.
But because of the swift response by Dallas County Investigators, the contraband was located on the detainee and confiscated prior before the detainee returned to the correctional facility.
Investigators said video surveillance cameras captured footage of the unknown suspect who left the contraband in a bathroom located near the emergency room.
The contraband was strategically placed by the suspect to allow the detainee the ability to obtain the contraband and bring it unlawfully back to the correction facility.
Investigators said the suspect is described as a black male, with a beard, wearing a t-shirt, and gray shorts. They have no other details available for release at this time.
The suspect is wanted for promoting second-degree prison contraband, which is a class C felony.
