Former Dallas County High School Valedictorian Preston McGee was named outstanding Senior by the University of Alabama National Alumni Association.
The Alumni Student Award honors seniors who have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities, shown strength of character and maturity, and displayed exceptional hospitality toward guests and friends of Alabama.
McGee, who gave his final tour as a Capstone Man last week, said he appreciates the award.
“To be recognized as one of the most outstanding seniors of my class, especially by the Alumni Association, is truly one of the greatest honors I could imagine receiving,” McGee said. “The Alumni Association has played a huge role in my time at the Capstone, and for that, I am extremely grateful. Even my first tour of campus was through Alumni, being a DiscoverBama tour that was set up for me through our local Bama Club.
“As a first generation college student from Plantersville, I never thought that I would have gotten the chance to wear the many hats that I’ve been blessed to wear at UA. My four years here have been filled with many opportunities that I would not have had elsewhere. I will forever be thankful for everyone who had a part in getting me to where I am now, and Selma and the greater Dallas County area played a big role in that.”
