Convention Center, Land Bank ordinance to lead Selma City Council meeting Tuesday night

The Selma City Council meeting will have a loaded agenda on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
The city council is expected to approve contributing to Thursday’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church from 5-7 p.m. Former Selma City Councilwoman Susan Youngblood asked for donations and volunteers from the city council. Youngblood said all checks should be made to the Blackbelt Benefit Group.
Among the Business Items by City Council President Billy Young that will be discussed include: the Land Bank Ordinance, Update on Convention Center and Charter Communications Franchise Agreement Public Hearing.
Young gave an update on all three business items. He said a meeting on the Land Bank will be held Wednesday. He added that a public on Charter Communications is scheduled for June 13.
Attorney Major Madison’s Attorney Report features a Resolution, an agreement between the City of Selma and Lowndes County Jail. Madison said a place was needed to house Selma residents because the Dallas County Jail got severely damaged because of the January 12 tornado.
Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. will have his Mayor’s Report.
Three Citizens Concerns are on the agenda: Tara Henderson, Danyell Parker and Faya Toure.
