The Selma High School Saints with new Head Coach Leon Day will enter a new era starting on August 24th when they begin their 2023 season with the Kickoff Classic against Beauregard.
“We get the opportunity to play The first game to play in the state of Alabama,” Day said. “To play in the number 10 team in the state of Alabama in Beauregard we will find out quickly where we stand early.”
The Saints will be at home plenty at the beginning of the season playing their first three games in Selma.
Their first road game is September 15 against Holtville before being right back home for a quick stop at home against Greenville for Homecoming on September 22. October 20 will be the last home game against Jemison and will be senior night for the Saints. Their final game of the season will be on October 27 against CHHS in Troy.
One of the big games on the schedule is the annual Queen City Classic on Sep.1 between Southside and Selma. This is the first year at the helm for Day and he is ready for Selma and Southside.
“Three years ago I was offensive coordinator here. So I had the chance to coach in this game,” Day said. “ I know the environment. There is some anticipation from both schools. It’s going to be a perfect atmosphere for Friday Night Lights when Selma and Southside get together. “
