The girls of summer in Valley Grande are heading to Eufaula Alabama for the Dixie Youth Softball State Tournament in July. The 14U team led by Valley Grande Parks and Recreation Director Bubba Holley will represent Dallas County on the big stage against some of the best little league teams the country has to offer. Assistant Coach Andrea Holley said that this game is a big deal for these girls and they deserve to be on this stage.
“This is a big deal for all of our All-Stars. All season long these girls have worked hard, many train and work with people during the off-season and go to different camps,” Holley said. “The girls’ teams are continuing to work hard not only preparing for their tournaments but also fundraising to help cover traveling expenses.”
This is only the second full year that Valley Grande has had All-Stars and this year according to Holley the kids started to talk about it.
“This year about three-quarters of the way through the regular season you heard kids starting to talk about All-Stars, who they thought was going to make it and who they thought wasn’t going to make it. I know for Softball, the parents get just as excited and into it as the girls do,” Holley said. “ This year we have three girls’ teams going to All-Stars.”
The 14u team will leave for Eufaula in the early part of July to begin their journey to a state championship.
