The Selma City Council Work Session was highlighted by the Citizen’s Request section.
City Council President Billy Young, council members Christie Thomas, Sam Randolph, Atkin Jemison, Clay Carmichael and Jannie Thomas were present at Thursday’s meeting.
Attorney Faya Toure was the first to speak. Toure discussed the latest U.S. Federal holiday Juneteenth and recommended the city council get good cameras.
Kimesha Alvarado of ADC Dallas County discussing having a First Eight Courageous Conference at the George P. Evans building in the future. Alvarado asks if the city council to sponsor. Young said that he would look into it.
Former Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said that a group of District Attorneys will cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge at 11 a.m. on July 3. Jackson wanted the bridge blocked off for 20 minutes.
The city council meeting will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.
