Keith High School found out exactly where they stood last week as part of Southsides 7 on 7 tournament and Head Coach Anthony Lumpkin was not pleased with where his team stood at this point in the summer with just around a month left until the beginning of the 2023 season. Keith took on Autaugaville in the first game of the 7 on 7 tournament. The Bears did not only struggle with making plays but it seemed that Autaugville was better conditioned than the Bears. That was a concern for Lumpkin.
“We’re not where we want to be right now,” Lumpkin said. “Conditioning is something I pride myself on. If we are not in shape we are not going to be effective.”
Lumpkin said it was a good chance for his team to see that they were not where they needed to be. According to Lumpkin Keith has one of the bigger offensive lines and if they are not in shape that will cause a lot of problems come the regular season. He went on to say that if his team was not conditioned they would be able to compete but not to the level that they want to compete.
“Our conditioning is a must for us,” Lumpkin said.
Keith will open up their regular season at home on August 25 against Bullock County.
