On June 29, the Dallas County School Board approved the hiring of Bridgett Powell as the new Principal at William Martin Middle School.
Powell will replace Rand Smith, who was the previous principal of W.R Martin Middle School.
Powell brings over 30 years of experience in education to the role of serving as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal. Her most recent position was in 2019 where she served as the principal at U.S. Jones Elementary School in Demopolis. At the time, then Demopolis schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said that Powell had all the right skills for the job. “Her experience at that grade level and background as a counselor and special education teacher will be a great benefit at U.S. Jones. Her calmness, but firmness, caught the attention of our committee. She is going to be a very good fit for U.S. Jones,” Kallhoff said.
Powell worked for three years at John Essex and spent the remainder of her career working at Clarke County where she served at different times as a special education teacher, counselor, and assistant principal.
