Selma resident Kyle Bennett graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern Mississippi in May.
Bennett received his Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in History, Criminal Justice, and Military Science.
Bennett also received his commission as a Second Lieutenant from the USM Army ROTC program.
Bennett was selected for Active Duty, is branched as an Engineer Officer and will be attending the Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Also, Bennett is a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Bennett joined the Mississippi Army National Guard at age 17.
Bennette completed Army Combat Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 2018, the Automated Logistics Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia in 2019, the Warrior Leader Course in 2020, Army ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 2022, and the Cadet Troop Leader Training at Fort Lewis, Washington in 2022.
While a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard,, Bennett served as an Automative Logistics Specialist with the 1/185th Aviation in Jackson, MS and a Cadet Trainee with the 106th Brigade Support Battalion in Laurel, Mississippi.
Bennett is engaged to 2LT Sophia Severson of Valparaiso, Indiana. Bennett is the son of Tyler and Stacey Bennett of Selma.
