The Montgomery Police Department (MPD) arrested a fourth person from Dallas County involved in last weekend’s Montgomery riverfront brawl.
According to the MPD, Mary Todd, 21, turned herself in to authorities Thursday. Todd is charged with third-degree assault and currently is held in Montgomery’s Municipal Jail.
The charges resulted from Todd’s involvement in the assault on Harriott II Co-Captain Damien Pickett Saturday. Todd was part of a group on another boat whose owner and occupants refused to move their vessel while the Harriott II riverboat tried to dock. Pickett told MPD that Todd “pushed him in his throat and would not let (him) pass.”
Three other Dallas County residents have been arrested in connection to the brawl: Richard Roberts, 48, on two counts of third-degree assault; Allen Todd, 23, on one count of third-degree assault; and Zachery “Chase” Shipman, 25, on one count of third-degree assault.
A white 16-year-old deckhand-in-training was also a victim of the brawl. According to MPD records, Pickett and the teen sustained bruised ribs and Pickett had knots on his head. Both received treatment at hospitals, according to Montgomery Police Chief Darryl Albert. Under state law, the teenager’s identity can’t be revealed because he’s a minor. The MPD did not reveal what hospital they were treated in.
Albert said 13 people were initially detained Saturday night and all were released pending the ongoing investigation. Albert said additional charges are a possibility.
