At Tuesday night’s Selma City Council meeting, Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. made this observation to the Selma City Council.
“Communication has improved between us,” Perkins said. “There’s a lot of work to be done, but’s improving.”
We are glad to see and hear that positive exchange, especially regarding budget negotiations for the 2024 Fiscal Budget proposed by Perkins.
From where we sit, the budget is the biggest topic in the Queen City.
For the sake of Selma residents, we need both sides to work together on passing a $22.6 million budget.
We expect hard-nosed negotiations between Perkins and the city council before the Sept. 30 deadline and appreciate the fact that the lines of communication have improved.
That’s all we can ask for.
