Keith High running back Sederreion Reuben is named The Selma Times-Journal’s high school player of the week.
The senior played a big role in the Bears’ season-opening 7-3 over Bullock County last Friday at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.
Reuben ran for 85 yards on 19 carries, but his biggest play came defensively, a move that preserved the Bears’ win.
Reuben’s interception deep in Bullock County territory with 31 seconds to play sealed the Bears’ win.
After the game, Reuben insisted his play was not all about him.
“That win was for my team; my team helped me win this game,” Reuben said.
Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin said that Reuben will be one of the keys to Bears having a successful season.
“Reuben is on his way,” Lumpkin said.
The Bears (1-0) visit rival Dallas County on Friday at 7 p.m. at Martin Field in Plantersville.
