Pepsi-Cola of Selma partnered with Winn-Dixie for a charity golf tournament on Wednesday at the Valley Grande Golf Course.
According to Steve Smitherman, owner of Valley Grande Golf Course, about 15 teams and around 55 people participated in the charity tournament that goes toward Breast Cancer. Proceeds go toward breast cancer in Selma.
Doug Horton, a supervisor at Pepsi-Cola of Selma, who helped run the tournament, said Pepsi and Winn-Dixie have a great working relationship.
“Winn-Dixie has been raising money for breast cancer for several years,” Horton said. “Since Pepsi and Winn-Dixie has a great working relationship, it only made sense for us to pair up with them this year after we decided to do our fundraiser for breast cancer.”
Smitherman said the timing was perfect to do a charity tournament that benefits breast cancer.
“We’re always ready to do a charity golf tournament for a good cause,” Smitherman said.”We’ve always gotten good support from people in Selma and Valley Grande. We have good guys that support our tournaments.”
