Keith High quarterback Aveon Young is named The Selma Times-Journal’s high school player of the week.
The senior accounted for four total touchdowns in a 26-16 victory over University Charter last week at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.
Young ran for three touchdowns and passed for another score for the Bears (3-1 overall, 1-1 in Region 3, Class 1A).
It was the second stellar performance from Young this season. He had four total touchdowns in a 48-20 rout over Dallas County on Sept. 1.
Young is the second Keith player to earn player of the week honors. His teammate, running back Sederreion Reuben earned player of the week honors earlier this month.
Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin said before the season that Young will be one of the key senior leaders for the Bears.
The other two Times-Journal players of the week this season are Southside wide receiver Derick Smith and Southside quarterback MJ Reese.
Keith visits Marengo on Friday night.
