Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe signed a proclamation last Wednesday, declaring this week as Constitution Week.

Labbe signed the declaration for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the William Rufus King Chapter in Selma. He signed it in front of Ann Thomas, a member of the William Rufus King Chapter.

“It is the privilege and duty of the American people to commemorate the 236th anniversary of the Drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America with appropriate ceremonies and activities,” the proclamation read. “Public law guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America designating Sept. 17 through Sept. 23 as Constitution week.”

Labbe proclaimed Valley Grande residents to recognize this week as Constitution week.
