A Region 3, Class 1A championship is on the line when Keith entertains third-ranked Sweet Water on Friday night at J.V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.
Sweet Water (6-0, 4-0) sits atop the Region 3, 1A standings, ahead of Linden and the Bears. The Patriots beat Keith last month.
“Sweet Water is well coached and well-disciplined,” Bears head coach Anthony Lumpkin said.
Greensboro at Southside: The Panthers (4-2, 2-2 Region 3, 3A) can clinch a playoff berth with a Homecoming victory at Panther Stadium.
Southside head coach Charles Moody Jr. wants the Panthers to focus on the bigger picture.
“The Lord works in mysterious ways,” Moody said. “We’ll be a three-seed if we beat Greensboro and Alabama Christian. We’ll have to win a playoff game on the road and host the second round.”
Selma at Shelby County: The Saints (1-6, 1-2 Region 3, 5A) recorded their first win of the season and have a clear path to making the 5A state playoffs, with wins over Shelby County and Jemison.
Jason Rogers scored twice against Marbury and Christian Moore added one.
“Feeling grateful for my boys to have the opportunity to make the playoffs,” Saints coach Leon Day said. “I’m very happy for my babies.”
Monroe Academy at Morgan Academy: The Senators (1-6, 1-5) try to end a five-game losing streak.
“Hopefully, we can do a better job of taking care of the ball,” Senators head coach Danny Raines said. “Monroe will be a big and physical team. Looking forward to playing back at home.”
Senator standouts in the loss to Autauga Academy were: Milton Hand (135 yards rushing, nine total tackles) and Mekhi Thompson (9 total tackles).
Dallas County at Hale County: The Hornets (1-6, 0-4 Region 3, 4A) travel to Moundville for a showdown against the Wildcats.
Dallas County continues to find different scorers each week ranging from Kodell Sharp to Cedrick Simmons.
Meadowview Christian School at Cornerstone Christian: The Trojans (0-7) play their final road game of the season.
Alex Johnson, Sean Davis and Trent Ballard all continue to make plays for MCS.
Kickoff for all games is 7 p.m.
