Vaughn Regional Medical Center (VRMC) CEO David McCormack was the guest speaker at the Selma Rotary Club on Monday.

With the meeting held at VRMC, McCormack spoke about the process and condition of the hospital.

“It’s hard getting people to come here,” McCormack said. “We’re trying to get a staff and more nurses.”

McCormack said doctors who chose to work in Selma has an advantage over other areas.

“You’ll make more money in Selma than you will working in Montgomery and Birmingham, you’ll save more money working in Selma than working in Montgomery and Birmingham,” McCormack said.

McCormack said it’s a test trying to keep VRMC running.

“For every dollar we charge, we only get nine cents,” McCormack sad. “We have no say on what we charge. It’s a challenge, but its fun most of the time.”
