Morgan Academy quarterback Caden Tellier is The Selma Times-Journal’s high school player of the week.
The sophomore had 350 yards of total offense and scored five touchdowns in the Senators’ 36-32 loss to Pickens Academy last week. Tellier had 167 yards rushing on 17 carries. He also made 16 completions for 187 yards in the Senators’ season finale.
Morgan Academy coach Danny Raines praised Tellier’s performance, noting the sophomore missed two games because of injury for the Senators (1-9) season.
“Caden’s a great kid and had a great year for us,” Raines said. “To be a sophomore quarterback at the varsity level, he performed admirably, especially against the schedule we faced. He is a great kid who worked diligently to improved. He is also very smart. Caden wants to be good, and he definitely puts in the work.”
Seven other players have earned Player of the Week honors from the Selma Times-Journal: quarterback MJ Reese, Southside wide receiver Erick Smith, Southside wide receiver Derick Smith, Southside cornerback Raquez Broadnax, Meadowview Christian School athlete Sean Pope, Keith running back Sadarreion Reuben, and Keith quarterback Aveon Young.
