Agape Community Economic Development, Inc. recently held its annual Health Fair.
Over 150 people and more than a dozen vendors attended the fair held at the Agape Building on Oct. 14.
UAB Selma Family Medicine and Rural Health offered screenings and assessments. Dallas County Workforce Program, RSVP and AARP, Dallas County Extension and USDA Rural Development were among the vendors providing information to attendees.
Mary Watson, Agape event coordinator, said the fair’s goal was to promote wellness, provide information about healthy habits and help the community develop a better quality of life.
“Over the years we have heard numerous testimonies from the community about how the health fair has really helped them,” Watson said.”
Watson said one person told her, “I look forward to the Agape Community Annual Health Fair. I get a chance not only to educate myself by reading the brochures and health information provided; but to take time to actually talk with the vendors about my own health issues.’
Watson said Agape is looking forward to hosting the Health Fair next year.
