Morgan Academy shined in the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) All-Star Football game held Thursday at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
Senators fullback Davis Fuller and wide receiver Milton Hand played for the West All-Stars, who lost to the East All-Stars 48-28 on Nov. 30.
Six cheerleaders were also selected: Allie Wilkinson, Anne Frances Pearce, Anne Hayes Utsey, Claire Johnson, Lelia Kelly and Taylor Roberts.
Ally Spivey and Madge Minter participated as water girls for the West All-Stars.
Morgan Academy head coach Danny Raines, one of the West All-Star coaches, said he was pleased with how the Senators performed.
“Davis and Milton played well, our kids did well,” Raines said. Our cheerleaders did a great job also. Spivey and Minter did well.”
Raines said he was impressed how the West All-Stars competed with a talent-laden East squad, composed of state champions Lee-Scott, Lowndes Academy and Chambers Academy.
“We were down 28-0 at halftime,” Raines said. “We closed the gap to 42-28 but they scored on the last play to make it 48-28.”
