Dallas County was placed under a Winter Weather Advisory that went into effect on Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham and the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency, the advisory started at 6 p.m. and expired at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Freezing rain was expected, along with some snow and sleet, with total ice accumulations around a few hundredths. The NWS warns residents to expect slippery road conditions, which could impact the morning or evening commute.
“Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages,” the NWS said in a statement.
The wind chill value will be nine degrees Tuesday morning and two degrees Wednesday morning.
