Dallas County Commission approves multiple resolutions

The Dallas County Commission approved several resolutions at its first meeting of the year on Jan. 8.
The biggest resolution approved by the Commission was the renaming of Camp Perry Varner to add the name of Varner’s wife, Carolyn Varner. The building will be officially renamed Camp Perry and Carolyn Varner. Probate Jimmy Nunn, Commissioners Curtis Williams and Conell Towns approved the resolution. Commissioners Vivian Rogers and Jan Justice abstained from voting.
Another Resolution approved was Al Blackmon replacing Willie Bonner as Jim Minor Garden Homes Manager. Bonner resigned from the position. Justice also abstained from voting.
Other resolutions the Commission approved were:
-Amendments to the Dallas County Commission Rules of Procedure;
-The change in water installment for the Dallas County CDBG Bogue Chitto Wage Decision update;
-December budget revisions over $71,000;
-Fiscal Year 2024 amended Rebuild Alabama County Transportation plan, adding county roads 189 and 56 to the plan;
-Fiscal Year 2023 Rebuild Alabama annual report, which resurfacing County Road 204 was not done in time for the August deadline.
