Morgan Academy coach James Roberts said the goal was to go unbeaten in the tournament for a second straight year.
“We won it last year but lost a couple of really good players that now start for our Junior Varsity team as seventh-graders,” Roberts said. “I knew it would be more of a challenge this year, but these kids have worked hard and sacrificed a lot of weekends that they could have been doing other things. Instead, they showed up to get better each practice and it really showed during the tournament.”
Roberts thanked assistant coach Earl Alsobrook for the Senators’ success.
“Earl Alsobrook is the real head coach of this team,” Roberts quipped. “He knows way more about basketball then I ever will.”
