Morgan Academy head football coach Danny Raines has resigned to take a similar position at Berry High School.
Raines spent four years as the Senators’ head coach and Athletic Director, posting a 21-23 record and two Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) semifinal appearances.
“I’m thankful for my time at Morgan Academy,” Raines said. “There are several great people at Morgan Academy and I enjoyed my time with them.”
Morgan Academy Director of Operations Karim Oaks said she always appreciated Raines’ professionalism and ability to work with others.
“Danny Raines was easy to work with and always willing to coach wherever we needed him to coach,” Oaks said. “He truly loves his students and helps them succeed. We thank him for his service at Morgan Academy and wish him the best of luck as he moves closer to home.”
Raines will be coaching Berry for the second time. He coached at Berry between 2003 and 2016, posting a 102-59 record in 14 years with three state quarterfinal appearances.
“Danny Raines never said ‘no’ to anything that would help our students.” Morgan Academy headmaster Dr. Bryan Oliver said. “I can not thank Danny enough for being willing to step up in every situation.”
